The Body Barber™ will seek to provide you with a full and comprehensive consultation for your men's laser Melbourne needs?

We can't stress enough the importance of having a proper consultation before undergoing laser hair removal treatments. Your consultation will cover the following areas:

* Full detailed medical history including medications which may possibly contraindicate the treatment and successful outcomes. i.e. Hirsutism, herpes simplex, hypertrophic scarring or keliod formations, psoriasis, vitiligo to name a few.
* Discussion of the reasoning behind wanting laser hair removal Melbourne.
* Discussion of your expectations of the outcome.
* Discussion of the laser hair removal treatment options and other options open to you.

Should you decide to go ahead with a patch test

* Discussion of skin typing and a patch test performed.
* Pre and Post Treatment care.
* Obtaining your informed consent if you decide to go ahead with the treatment.
* Whilst the consultation is free, going ahead with a patch test will require a $80 deposit. Any deposit made during a consultation will be refunded at the completion of your first laser procedure.
Wax or Manscape Consultations

Why so many questions when I'm just coming in for a wax for gods sake ?

Getting a wax is not without its own risks. Waxing means truly ripping hairs out by their roots, pulling them out means tearing them out by the root and leaving a tiny wound just under the surface and open to infection. And you still want to ask if waxing is painful ?

* We ask that you disclose medications that you currently use or have used in the past 3 - 6 months as we strive to provide not only the best, but also safest service to our clients. i.e. currently using Accutane® or have stopped it less than 6 months ago. Retin-A®, Tazorac®, Differin®, Avage® or other retinoids within 3 weeks or had chemical peels within last 2-3 months.
* What is it that you are wanting to achieve with your choice of treatment.
* That you are aware of, and understand any limitations with your waxing or manscape procedures.
* What products are you using on the area at the moment.

We understand that it's not convenient for everyone to go home first to shower prior to coming in to visit us, especially with Melbourne's traffic congestion the way it is.

Shower facilities are available and complimentary here at The Body Barber™ should you like to freshen up before we undertake your service. All we ask is that you to let us know in advance so that we can allow sufficient time before the following client arrives.

All hygiene waxing we ask that you use our facilities prior to your treatment to make sure that you are totally clean. We are manscapists not agriculturalists and have no interest in composting.

Please read the 'Before' and 'After' before requesting a shower prior to, or after your treatment.
Before:

Having a bath or shower, before waxing is fine, the steam from a hot shower will open those follicles encouraging the hairs to be more easily removed, and therefore less painful.

Plus, who doesn't want to be clean and fresh when someone else is going to be very close and personal ?!

Don't use moisturiser or deodorant as this may form a barrier to the wax.
It's perfectly ok to have a shower after a wax, but take a cool or warm shower as your skin is still very sensitive. I recommend waiting at least 6 - 8 hours before having a shower so that you allow your skin to recover.

AVOID hot showers or saunas/steam rooms after you have had a wax as the heat may open your pores further, inviting bacteria into the skin. (see FAQs) Hot showers, saunas, steam rooms and sunbathing are a definite NO after a laser procedure.

The waxed area ought to be kept clean and nourished with post-waxing products to keep the skin smooth and healthy. Always, always, ALWAYS start exfoliating 48 hours after your wax, it'll slough away dead skin and discourage ingrown hairs.
